First Bowl Movement After Surgery

I have just had my first bowl movement following my right knee replacement surgery. Even though I have microscopic colitis I am still glad this occured. During my surgery I had a general anaesthetic. This slows down the body. It typically results in constipation. What is normal is to receive stool softener medication to restart bowel movements. On account of my microscopic colitis the general anaesthetic has caused a normal bowel movement. It has had the same effect as Imodium in slowing down the contracts that are the result of microscopic colitis. My diarrhea should return in a day or two. I am just really glad and also relieved that my bowel is working and that surgery didn't further injure me in regards to this.
