Reached Out To My Hip Surgeon For Assistance
[ Thursday September 26th 2024 at 1:26 am ]
I had reached out to the hip surgeon's office on August 26th to make an appointment to discuss this. I faxed a letter to my surgeon explaining what I needed to make an appointment with him about and then left a voice mail message for his medical secretary. I did not receive a response. I let it slide because of a salutatory holiday in Canada at the start of September. I have no problem with my doctors being human and needing time for self care.
I've been in so much pain and physically weak during the past 3 weeks that I haven't been able to chase this around before now. This was on my short list of chores to complete when I felt rested and wasn't in pain. But with how horrifically wrong this has been I have just put in the effort to resend the letter I wrote on August 26th. I also scanned and attached the transmission verification report and a screenshot from my cell phone call long showing I left a voice mail message for my hip surgeon's medical secretary to the e-mail.
In addition to sending this by e-mail to my surgeon's medical secretary I have also included the patient relations department of my local hospital and the hospital where my surgeon is employed. I was refereed to this hip surgeon during a visit to the emergency department of my local hospital on February 19th 2024. The referral never made it's way to my surgeon's medical secretary. This only came to light when I advocated myself after 4 weeks of not being offered an appointment with the knowledge that the emergency department doctor of my local hospital intended for the referral to be urgent. I need to understand this has now happened to me for a second time and how they expect me to communicate with my surgeon. This is why I have included the patient relations department for their help in this.
