Purchased A Replacement Smoke Detector
[ Tuesday August 29th 2023 at 7:16 pm ]
With my basement smoke - carbon monoxide detector battery wearing out last night around 12:20AM and the unit I have just purchased a replacement at my local Home Depot. I will get this installed tomorrow. Inside a smoke and carbon monoxide detector is a decaying substance that is only effective for a given time period. This is why these detectors are marked for a given service life. Some units are sealed and contain a battery for backup purposes when the power is out. Once their battery wears out, even if before the service life is up, the unit must be replaced. This is the style that has worn out.
When I replace a smoke - carbon monoxide detectors I label it to indiate when the end of service life date. This is so I won't forget to replace it when it is no longer able to be effective. I will do this before it is installed. A friend will be here to help me Wednesday evening. I will have him install this for me. I just don't have the function in my knees to do this for myself. Then this will be off my "to do" list.
