Powered On My New Wheelchair For The First Time

A few months ago I received my new power wheelchair. It wasn't suitable for me to begin using it immediately.
- I need lighting for my safety because of traveling to the gym each week night for my physiotherapy.
- I also have the opportunity to modify the foot rest so it will swivel up and down at the touch of a button. During the past few months when I've hit a bump or pot hole on the way to the pool the pain in my knee joints was severe. This was rubbing the fraying cartilage inside of my knee joints and is very painful. I am hoping modifying the foot rest will ease this pain.
- There are several other functional changes I am making to my new power wheelchair which will help ease the marathon that has become my day to day life.
Over the past few months I've been waiting on parts I mail ordered from Asian countries to arrive. Although the delivery is much slower than shopping locally this has saved me about $2,400 CAD.
Throughout this time frame I've been using my 2010 power wheelchair. While out with my wheelchair earlier today the motor brushes began to disintegrate. I must begin using the new wheelchair immediately.
With the help of friends I've got the batteries in the new wheelchair and powered it on for the first time. This is a milestone in improving my quality of life. I am also looking forward to preparing videos of how I modify my new wheelchair to increase it's functionality.
