Dropped Off My Power Wheelchair For Maintenance
[ Wednesday August 11th 2021 at 5:21 pm ]

I just delivered my power wheelchair for it's maintenance. The stem bearings need changing. These are what let me turn corners and drive around obstacles (parked cars, branches, storm drains, etc.). I will have it back on Friday. This is planned maintenance. I knew they needed changing because the wheels were flopping around like a fish out of water. This is called caster flutter. Based on the amount of use it is time for them to be changed.

In the intern I have a manual wheelchair if I need to go out. I use this as a backup. I purchased it from a thrift store. I would highly suggest any power wheelchair user have one as part of their backup plan. I don't often use it. It folds up. If a friend wants to take me out this is able to be transported in their vehicle trunk. For me it is there when I need it and I am so glad I have it.
