Systems For Managing Day To Day Life

After being discharged from unsuccessful physiotherapy on February 3rd 2017 there is no prospect of making a full recovery in the short term. My left knee joint has also been deteriorating and is about 4 months behind my right knee joint following the same deterioration sequence. The best I am able to figure is that I have at least another 5 years of pain and mobility challenges ahead of me.
I've just finished an appointment with a friend of mine who is a psychotherapist in the community where I live. I asked him if he would go over the systems I've derived to managing my day to day life as a sounding board. With shrinking budgets for social assistance I am not eligible for the in home care program which helped me between 2009 and 2015. My friend has no objective feedback for me to reconsider the strategies I've decided upon for myself.
The two big strategies my plan heavily hinges on:
- The modifications to my new power wheelchair. One of the key modifications I am making to my new power wheelchair is to make the foot rest raise and lower at the touch of a button. This is a strategy to manage my knee pain. It should help me to do more each day.
- Deep cleaning my home, getting rid of what doesn't fit in my life now and reducing the furniture in my home will reduce the amount of self maintenance needed in my day to day life. This is also important. I've been writing off 4 days a week due to pain. The other 3 days each week I am greatly limited in what I can do. I have to make the time when pain isn't bad count.
I am happy enough that I am on the right track for managing my day to day life.
