An Appointment With My Family Doctor
[ Thursday February 6th 2020 at 2:43 pm ]
I just had an appointment with my family doctor. There were 2 main reasons for this appointment:
- A referral to a local orthopedic surgeon
- I had some logistical questions about switching to a family doctor near my home
My family doctor was helpful with both of these issues. I am unsure of when I'll have the assessment with a local orthopedic surgeon. I brought with me a chart I made summarizing the issues with my knees since I was 14 years old. My family doctor looked this over. This will be a helpful start to the discussion with the orthopedic surgeon. Although I've told them the issues with my knees started when I was 14 years old it didn't appear to have "clicked" with my family doctor until hie saw this is written form today.
It is in the works that I will become a patient at the medical practice 2 blocks from my home. The doctor that was going to take me on has unexpectedly resigned. Tomorrow I have an appointment to sort out what will be "plan B". Before I had the appointment tomorrow I wanted to know what is normal for a patient who lives with chronic pain needs to endure for switching family doctor's. It was just easier talking about this in person.
