Found More Maintenance My Home Is In Need Of

I made a discovery this evening I am a bit sad about. This winter my shower drain froze. I took a cursory look this evening to see if I could identify an easy resolution. The access to the house cistern (no longer in use) is in that corner of the house. I wondered if the cap for the pipe leading into the basement had come off.
When I pushed my hand under the siding a piece of wood fell off the house. It is dry rot. I just messaged my friend who is an industrial electrician. He use to live here in town. He was offered a better employment opportunity on the west coast of Canada. He is having a contractor buddy come by on Saturday to have a good look.
I have purchased a can of expanding foam insulation. This was when I thought it was likely the cap that came off. This is bigger than this. It also likely explains where many mice are entering my home. I will see where this goes. This house is like a hospital to me.
