Pre Surgery Screening For My Right Knee Joint Being Replaced
[ Friday April 10th 2026 at 1:00 pm ]

I am having to use public transit to get to VIA Rail for my pre surgery screening. There is no paratransit vehicle available this morning. I am at the bus terminal. One of the men that drives me in the paratransit vehicle pulled up with his bus, saw me and asked if I was catching the train & the time the train leaves. He looked at his watch to check to check that I would make it. I really appreciate it.

The nursing portion of my pre surgery screening went incredibly well. I prepared a print out of my medication history and list of surgeries. The nurse really appreciated this. She said it was amazing to have an orthopedic patient who was positive about their life.

I was nervous in terms of what the surgery means for my life. Now that I have seen the anesthetist I feel relieved. They aren't worried about my heart in having another surgery. They had trouble getting my spine infused in 2015. I may need a general anaesthetic if they can't find my specific spot to numb me this time. It went so well in 2025 getting my new artificial hip there aren't concerns. I couldn't be more relieved. I am doing all this to improve my life.

The only concern is pain related. I am not invincible. This process has hurt a lot. I find pain from surgery and recovery much easier to deal with compared to my body injuring me.
