My Fifth Physiotherapy Appointment
[ Friday January 6th 2017 at 3:30 pm ]

The appointment with my physiotherapist today went about as best as it could have. The physiotherapy coverage I have is prohibitively basic. I am handicaped by two factors:

  • There isn't coverage for me to do my exercises in front of a physiotherapist; Only a home exercise program is funded.
  • I have to prove progress to continue receiving coaching.

The challenge of this is the number of setbacks I've experienced since going to her for help. I have less mobility now than I did when I started. There is no "plan B" where additional funding may be applied for in special circumstances.

The appointment ended with the physiotherapist making a chart for me to complete each day over the next 4 weeks. I have to show that I've made progress or I am likely to be discharged.

I do have a backup plan for when I am discharged. I have a close friend who is a physiotherapist. He lives about 90 minutes from me. He is willing to provide over sight if this is what I am needing. He knows I don't have much money and isn't going to charge me.

Where I am at in life right now amounts to money being quality of life. The new 'Carbon Tax' law (effective January 1st 2017 by the Ontario Government) has increased my cost of heating and food because of an increased expense transporting produce to stores. I can't go on indeffinately. My family doctor extended my disability tax certificate for another 2 years earlier today. I think I need to plan for self sustaining housing if I don't make a recovery over the next two years.
