July 2021 Newsletter Edition
July has been a very full month. I've both received helped and completed several tasks independently. It has been really good to get tasks off my "to do" list.
I've been able to make progress with my crypto currency mining. This is becoming a reliable source of passive income considering my physical disability. The AMD 6700xt graphic card I purchased for mining was dead on arrival. The manufacturer RMA has been processed. They were very generous with me. They replaced the graphic card with a 6800xt. This will produce about $150CAD a month after the cost of electricity. Not all graphic cards are created equal. This is on the high end of what is presently available. Every dollar helps. The funds this represents is the money needed to finish establishing my self employment pursuit.
A friend has assisted me in some tree limb pruning. This is one of the tasks I require help with. I am glad it is done. Some tree limbs were rubbing on the roof. They were needing to be cut back. In seems in 2022 I am going to need to hire someone to do some more advanced pruning. There are some limbs off the ground that need trimming by someone who has experience with this. At least what needs doing in the here and now is taken care of.
My power wheelchair has undergone routine maintenance. It needed all the bearings changed. The large tires needed replacing. At this point the batteries are okay. With the work needing to be completed in my backyard it doesn't make sense to replace these tires right now. I am glad this is taken care of. I rely on my power wheelchair as my legs beyond limited mobility.
I've been able to accomplish one of my bigger goals this month. I've had the appointment to pay out my mortgage. I was able to do this using inheritance money. I need to now take the money I was using to pay my mortgage each month and begin to do some maintenance of my home. I've been thinking about replacing the windows. It would really help me to have a chair lift. This would open up the upstairs of my home to me. Overall I am thinking through an order of priorities and what makes sense to tackle.
My experience with Ontario's criminal justice has ended very poorly. The arresting officer contacted me to follow up from the intruder. By all appearances this individual was looking for a place to stay and three meals a day. He plead guilty long before the costs of the damage created could be assessed. There is no court order for restitution. I contacted Victim Services. What was explained to me is based on various budget cuts over several years unless I was physically attacked there were no funds available. This is in contrast to years ago when this would have likely been reimbursed. If I want to pursue this my resource now is a complaint against the judge for adjudicating the case before the cost of damage could be assessed and suing the intruder directly. I need to decide if it is worth it. I have only so much energy. I have to be very intentional in order to capitalize on when I am feeling my best if I am to make something out of my life.
As the month came to a close my aunt lost her battle with cancer and died. By mid July it was obvious this was going to happen. The term "cancer" is a broad umbrella of illnesses. What she experienced ravaged her. I am glad she is no longer suffering. Her family and friends will be having a celebration of life service in August. They are going to stream this so I am able to watch the service as well as some family members outside the country. Certainly with covid the Internet has been a lifeline for gathering and spending quality time together.
