May 2020 Newsletter Edition
May has turned into an okay month. I am pleased with the direction my life is going. I have a lot remaining to do in establishing the framework I wish to go forward with in my life. I figure it will take the remainder of 2021 and all of 2022. I am hopeful.
I've decided to make use of some smart switches. I have installed these on the three exhaust fans in my homes. One in now controlling each bathroom exhaust fan. When I was reading a book on renovating an older home it suggested installing an exhaust fan in the upstairs hall with the idea of venting heat that congregates in an upstairs. I thought this was a reasonable suggestion and have added a smart switch to this as well. With smart switches I am able to program them using the Smart Life app to be on a timer and regularly exhaust the heat out of my home. In part this makes it more comfortable for me. This also makes the window air conditioner on the main floor of my home more effective. With my physical disability the use of a smart switch also helpfully compensates for a task that I find hard: I can turn off the bathroom exhaust fan remotely after showering without physically needing to return to the bathroom.
At the start of the month I went to my second chest freezer just before sleeping and discovered a squealing sound. I am roughly describing the noise finger nails on a chalk board makes. The fan in the freezer is reaching the end of it's service life. I am a bit horrified to discover the chest freezer isn't designed in a way that it may be repaired. It seems the minimum size requirement before they may be repaired is around 10 cubic feet. I've done my research and placed an order for a replacement freezer. I've decided to purchase a vertical freezer. I am struggling to use the chest freezer. My hips aren't doing okay. Neither are my knees. I am finding it very hard reaching into the chest freezer. I think the shelves of a vertical freezer will serve me better. When I grocery shop I typically purchase 4 months of groceries at a time. This includes frozen mixed veggies, various cuts of frozen meat and also frozen fruit. Then I cook my meals in bulk and make use of a freezer to hold and queue the meals. I make optimum use of a freezer. This is a crucial purchase and good use of inheritance money.
When I took my drone pilot exam I never actually had piloted an ultra light drone. The rule here in Canada is that anyone may operate a drone weighing 249 grams or less with two conditions: That it isn't operated in a dangerous method towards others and that the drone isn't endangering aviation. I'm starting from the beginning. I have purchased an ultra light drone. I will begin learning and progress when I am comfortable doing so. There is a lot of responsibility. However it is equally enjoyable. I like the creative photography aspect this gives me the opportunity to pursue.
I am continuing to enjoy my pet hamster Mike's company. I enjoy him having a run on me. What is more interesting is that Mike's trust of me has been increasing. Mike is comfortable having a sleep as I hold him in my hand. I really enjoy these times. It is wonderful caring for him. It is equally enjoyable giving Mike a blueberry or leaving a blueberry for him at the entrance of his sleeping hut. He is happy. It is truly wonderful being able to share videos of him on my youTube channel.
