Checking My Incision
[ Friday May 2nd 2025 at 4:14 am ]
I just finished at the hospital. It was a very long wait. I heard a dementia or Alzheimer's patient being very combative with the emergency department staff. I was proud of the emergency department staff. They tried their best to use their deescalation skills.
It makes no sense why so much fluid is coming out of my incision. It is the right color for healing taking place. There is no new hole where the fluid is draining from. The space between my skin and the surgical bandage sent the fluid to cover most of the bandage before I was seen these evening. These were the concerns I came to the hospital to have assessed. I am satisfied that the dressing is changed and leave it alone.
The pain I am feeling is likely the nerves reconnecting. Nerve endings get trapped when you have the amount of scar tissue that I had prior to surgery. I was instructed to massage my scar tissue in 2013. I do know what this feels like. It is extremely exhausting to feel when the nerves are reconnecting. With my surgeon very aggressively breaking down the scar tissue leaving only healthy skin to heal I am happy for my body to heal on it's own time frame.
I just hope I am able to make it down to the waterfront trails on the weekend and my body will leave me alone for a bit so I am able to enjoy it. This has been very physically demanding. I want to get back to my life and away from the healing from surgery.
