Assessed For A Blood Clot In My Lung
[ Wednesday May 6th 2026 at 6:49 pm ]

I have had more excitement today than I could have done with. When I woke up this morning it felt like there was an elephant on my chest. I needed to be checked if a blood clot in my lung. When I woke up this morning it felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest. This doesn't automatically mean a blood clot. But with recent surgery it needed to be ruled out.

I went to the emergency department of my local hospital. The initial screening for this involves a blood test upon arrival and then repeated 4 hours later. But for me this didn't work. My numbers are all messed right now because of my recent surgery. We had to proceed to a CT scan. It did eliminate a blood clot. Likely I either slept in a weird position causing some tightness in my chest or my lungs are healing from undergoing a general anaesthetic.

I was treated very well at the hospital. I am sufficiently tired now. My endurance hasn't recovered after I had my right knee joint replaced 2 weeks ago. I need to get into bed as soon as I eat. At least we ruled out what isn't wrong. In this sense it was time well spent today.
