Purchased Groceries Compatible With Treatment For Microscopy Colitis

I have just finished some grocery shopping. This has been a lot of mental effort figuring out foods that are compatible with microscopic colitis. I am not a fussy eater. In fact I am rather adventurous. This aligns with my philosophy that it takes all kinds of people to make up the world. Periodically I have ate food from other cultures. I enjoy the variety.

The doctor who performed my colonoscopy explained he only knows of 1 medication to treat this. If the medication I am prescribed doesn't heal my colon I will be referred to a internal medicine doctor. It is critically important that I eat in accordance to the known dietary restrictions so my body heals. Otherwise I face the prospect of my microscopic colitis becoming a chronic condition. It has been really hard to live with having diarrhea up to 14 times a day. The physical effort to get to the toilet up to 14 times a day has brought about the demise of my knee joints. I am really struggling with my physical abilities right now.

From everything I am reading bananas are the only fruit I am allowed to eat raw. Personally I like to freeze bananas and consume the banana pieces when they are frozen. They have the taste and texture of ice cream. I have formed the opinion that I need to limit the consumption of other fruit. But if I want to eat other fruit I need to cook it in the microwave oven first.

I can't eat nuts. But smooth peanut butter is allowed. Peanut butter made with just peanuts (and not icing sugar and hydrogenated oils) is a very healthy food to eat while having this condition. It provides nutrients to keep my body healthy as I undergo my treatment. I have some chunky peanut butter purchased. I will put it through my food processor to break up the nuts so they don't further inure me or prevent the medication from healing my colon.

Fish is encouraged. It provides healthy oils that are good for a body. With this I am allowed to eat rice and cooked vegetables. I can also eat lean meat. This shouldn't interfere with my colon healing.

What I am also reading leads me to believe having oatmeal is acceptable. I love eating oatmeal for breakfast. This won't be a hardship to follow. I have been experimenting using my bread maker to cook breakfast fruit oatmeal loaves. This is something I can follow through this.

There are 2 other things I am finding out that should bring about success to my colon recovering. The first is having a probiotic that is designed to help people digest food when they have irritable bowel syndrome. The emergency department doctor at my local hospital told me to do this. His advice is in alignment with what I am seeing online from credible sources of health care advice. The other is to sleep well so my body has a chance to heal while I am at rest.

I am trying my best. If the medication I have been prescribed doesn't work it won't be from the lack of trying.
