Back To The Hospital Emergency Department To Manage My Surgical Incision
[ Monday April 14th 2025 at 9:18 am ]

I am in real trouble. I was to the hospital yesterday evening to have my incision checked. A new style of dressing was used to close my incision. It is a type of surgical glue. In short yesterday they checked me for infection and fluid build up around my new artificial hip. The amount it is draining is way more than normal. But nothing is wrong. The hospital gave me supplies to change the dressing each day.

This evening when I went to change the dressing I discovered it had bled and drained a whole bunch over the past 24 hours. As this dried it became adhered to and part of the surgical glue that was used to close my incision. When I tried to remove the dressing it ripped about 25% of the surgical glue off the adhesive. Then as I took a few steps the incision started ripping open since the support of the surgical glue to keep it closed was gone. I am back to the hospital emergency department to have the incision closed with staples and sterilized.
