Reached Out To Arrange Post Hip Replacement Revision Surgery Dental Cleaning
[ Saturday September 6th 2025 at 12:17 pm ]

I have reached out to the dentist office to get my teeth cleaned before my other original artificial hip joint is replaced. This is a routine cleaning. I am not expecting them to find any cavities. The only other thing I needed to ask for is a new prescription for 2,000 mg Amoxicillin that I am needing to use 1 hour before my dental treatments for 2 years following my artificial hips being replaced. It takes 2 years for the increased blood flow following joint replacement surgery to subside. At the 2 year mark the preventative use of Amoxicillin is no longer needed. The risk is the same as everyone else. At that point you don't want to remove health bacteria. Continuing to use Amoxicillin prior to dental care after the 2 year mark reaches the "do more harm than good" threshold.
