I Am Discharged From Hospital

I have been Discharged after giving the on call orthopaedic doctor a good scare last night. My blood pressure was up as well as having a fever. I had blood work, an ECG and chest x-ray last night. Nothing is wrong more than the physical effort to learn how to walk again is a physical marathon.
This morning the hospital physiotherapist brought me to practice stairs. It was so much easier than yesterday. The physical effort is paying off. I am already off for my first adventure after getting my new artificial hip. The not for profit that takes me to my medical appointments isn't available to drive me home. Yesterday a nursing staff member helped me figure out Kingston General Hospital to the VIA Rail station. Once the doctors finished their discharge orders I called VIA Rail and I was able to arrange the wheelchair tie downs to bring me home to Belleville. I love riding the train.
The fare to ride the Kingston Transit went up $0.25 since I arrived for my surgery. The hospital has given me a quarter so I can catch the bus. Something really special happened just before I left the orthopaedic ward. The staff have been hearing me talk to my now former roommate Lorne. The staff wanted to tell me how great of an advocate I have been for him during this past week. As the initial days passed I realized his short term memory isn't great. But his long term memory is so sharp. He lost track of what he has told me. But I just listened like it was the first time hearing it. Also yesterday afternoon the family thanked me for looking out for him. I've enjoyed being in the hospital.
I really miss my hamster Gary. Nicole has been sending me photos and videos. He was so excited when she came to see him this morning. Gary could barely contain it. I will be able to hold him in a few hours. I've been looking forward to this since Sunday.
