Asked For An Appointment With My Dentist

2025 is shaping up to be a year of multiple hip and knee surgeries. I have sent a letter asking for a 10 minute appointment with my actual dentist to discuss three things:
- What the dentist thinks is medically prudent in terms of orthopaedic surgery and the use of antibiotic medication for my dental care only while healing from surgery. If he does recommend this what he and I could agree upon for a time frame when it is prudent.
- I would like to talk over with the dentist increasing the use of fluoride varnish to quarterly even if this means I purchase it separately and apply it at home. The enamel of my teeth was weakened by medicine used to treat my Legg Perthes disease. I want to focus on preventative measures for however long it is possible until I will require dentures.
- I want to confirm the amount of advanced notice they need (in practical terms, not what is on the appointment card) for in the event I must change my appointment due to an appointment with one of my surgeons.
I want to make it easy for the dentist staff to take care of my teeth. I think it is best to talk about these questions now and so I know what is expected of me.
