Ordered Relay So I May Make An Arduino Project To Monitor My Sump Pump

Before I sleep tonight I have decided to order the relay needed for my Arduino sump pump monitoring project. In common English the relay will trigger when the sump pump turns on. Then two actions will occur simultaneously:
- The Arduino will create a database record to log the starting date - time
- A stop watch will start
Then two subsequent actions will occur:
- If the sump pump doesn't shut off in the usual time it takes to empty the sump pump pit of water the blue LED will turn on indicating human intervention is required. This could mean the sump pump float is blocked from allowing the sump pump to turn off. It could mean the sump pump motor is loosing it's strength and I need to start assessing what replacement sump pump I should purchase. It could mean the water is coming in faster than typical and as the home owner I need to simply ensure the sump pump is keeping up.
- When the sump pump turns off it will log the finishing date - time. I will be able to use this to determine an average time the sump pump runs for to base the pumping cycles around.
I find these things very fascinating. I enjoy learning. I like trying things to see how they work. With how much of a problem this lot is in terms of draining water away from the foundation of the house this is worthy of the time, effort and financial resources to setup. The house has been one of the constants in my life. A house that I own has meant when I need to make accessibility related modifications I don't need to seek someone else's permission to do so.
