2016 Ontario Disability Support Program Property Tax Credit
[ January 7th 2016 at 10:33 pm ]
This video is for ODSP recipients who own their own home (including paying a mortgage). Today I completed my 2016 application for the ODSP property tax credit. Since making this video I've found out some communities only offer a deferral --- meaning the property tax is due upon the sale of the house. Where I live it is a 'credit'.
A Challenge To Think Before You Act
[ March 8th 2017 at 8:14 am ]
I've made this video as a gentle reminder to think before you act. The reason for this is so you won't regret the decisions you've made, especially ones made while you are emotionally charged. I see this as a life skill. I've explained the technique I use.
An Early Spring Canadian Sunset
[ April 7th 2017 at 11:43 pm ]
Today my chronic pain went out of control. The effect this had on me was close to vomiting. I needed to do something with the frustration. After the switch back to 'Day Light Savings Time' I've been really enjoying watching the sunset while doing my physiotherapy in the pool. Since I was running late tonight I brought my digital camera with me and took some photos as the sunset. Here in Canada it is early spring. Nature photography always gets my mind off the set of challenges which come from living with chronic pain and a long term physical disability.

One of the benefits to using a power wheelchair is being able to enjoy nature and speak to people as I go about doing my errands. There are so many special and unforgettable moments that have happened. As I went to the hardware and grocery stores I came upon these Canadian Geese. I hope these bring as much joy to you as they did to me.

My System For Paying And Storing My Utility Bills
[ March 21st 2018 at 12:48 pm ]
I've switched up my system for storing my utility bills. I am now scanning and keeping them archived on my computer with a backup on an external hard drive for peace of mind. In this video I talk about the process I am using. I share the frame work for someone who might want to begin using this system for keeping old utility bills. The reasoning for this change is decluttering my home. This frees up a filing cabinet draw holding old utility bills. This also eliminates the clutter on my desk of utility bills pending filing.
Pizza Flavoured Meal Using A Slow Cooker
[ January 16th 2017 at 3:17 pm ]
I've made a pizza flavoured meal using my slow cooker. I'm always cooking ahead and freezing. This tasted great served warm over rice and cold on toast. The video includes an ingredient list.
Raising Awareness For Wheelchair Safety In "Big Box" Stores
[ April 25th 2016 at 12:11 am ]
In this video I speak about the practical reality of operating a power wheelchair safely within "big box" stores. Today a parent allowed a young child to walk behind my power wheelchair. It nearly caused me to back my wheelchair into the young child. The store isle this occurred in was packed with customers and multiple "bottle necks" were created by in store isle merchandise displays. I've also talked about techniques for approaching someone who uses a power wheelchair to offer practical assistance. Remember a wheelchair a tool for the person using it. It doesn't make the user less of a person.
What My Grandma Made For My Childhood Hip Surgery
[ March 12th 2017 at 8:11 pm ]
In this video I share the house coat my Grandma made for the doll I slept with while healing from my 2 childhood Legg Perthes disease surgeries. I also have talked about other things my parents did to prepare me for having surgery as a 5 and 6 year old child.
